The Harvest of Haiti
Our Mission
To all of our faithful donator's across the country and those in my home county of St. Clair Michigan, we are very happy to finally get our website off the ground. The Harvest of Haiti has made well over 120 trips since it's inception of Feb. 1, 2001. I myself have made 64 of them. It would be impossible to write something about each trip taken in the past except the last trip in august of 2009. In those years prior we have foe have been able to bring 6 children to the U.S. for corrective surgery and returned them to their parents able to walk and smile once again.
Each trip has seen more success than that last trip. We have confined our mission work to 5 parts of the country. Our orphanage in Anse Rouge, DeConje, Jean Rable, Port Au Prince and Bon Rapos. 2 years ago our Board of Directors took on another non-profit called Reach Out to Haiti. This is run by an American woman named Barbara Walker. She has an orphanage and done adoptions in Haiti for over 21 years, adopting out over 1000 children to loving and caring families around the world. We provide her monetary donations 1 time per year and help her run the village so she can concentrate on Adoption work. In Port Au Prince we look after 60 men, women and children. We provide them with medical clinics and food. This is where the Bishop we serve lives and maintains 2 homes, 1 for women and children and the other for young men and boys whose parents or parent have sent them down from the mountains in hopes of an education and some day getting Pastor status. In the other mountain villages of Anse Rouge, De Conje and Jean Rabel, we provide food, materials for school and medical clinics. We also place water filters as we can afford them. Each water filter costs $25.00 U.S. dollars.
Our primary focus in Anse Rouge is to keep the 30 to 40 children fed 2 times per day and so far we have been able to afford this project. There is a school on the second floor for the kids and the children of the village, it is free and we provide lunch each day for the students. Through the years we have had many ups and downs, but over the past 5 years they have been all ups!
